But anyway, I got a haircut! Not much of a difference, but at least now the back of my head is nice and even and I kind of sort of have bangs even though I don't really like them and just pushed them off to the side as soon as I left. Here's a picture of me looking stupid trying one of those dramatic "surprised" faces and ending up looking like I'm deeply disturbed.
I was going for Margot in Take This Waltz, but it was most definitely not achieved. Oh well. The movie itself was a disappointment as well. I thought that from the trailer it would be a lot funnier and there wouldn't be so much staring at each other awkwardly. But it was a really pretty movie, and Seth Rogen was pretty much the best ever, like he always is. His deadpan basically just made the whole movie for me. And even though I hated Michelle Williams' really weird manic pixie dream girl with Peter Pan syndrome character, I have to admit that her acting is incredible and she is just the queen of short hair forever and ever. It was very colorful and it definitely made me want to spend my summer in Toronto. The plot itself just fell pretty short.
I stood up and reached out my hand and said, "May I have this dance?" Margo curtsied, gave me her hand, and said, "You may," and then my hand was on the curve between her waist and her hip, and her hand was on my shoulder. And then step-step-sidestep, step-step-sidestep. We fox-trotted all the way around the seal tank, and still the song kept going about the stars falling. "Sixth-grade slow dance," Margo announced, and we switched positions, her hands on my shoulders and mine on her hips, elbows locked, two feet between us. And then we fox-trotted some more, until the song ended. I stepped forward and dipped Margo, just as they'd taught us to do at Crown School of Dance. She raised one leg and gave me all her weight as I dipped her. She either trusted me or wanted to fall.John Green, I would gladly sell you my soul.
But anyway, here are a couple of things that have caught my eye lately throughout the Interwebz. The pictures are mostly from tumblr, and I've provided a click through link to all the sources, except for one picture, and the last two, which are mine.

I've been really into both frilly, pastel, Marie Antoinette-type things, with lost of flowers and colors and butterflies and such, but at the same time I've also been leaning toward adventure type outfits, with lots of thick sweaters and jean shorts and my trusty brown boots that I've pretty much been living in since I bought them. I also got this amazing backpack from my mom's friend for Christmas, and I'm so going to use it the next time my friends and I go urban adventuring. Here are some pictures of the backpack in question, as well as what I wore today and my favorite boots, just for the hell of it.
The backpack and my denim shorts are from Pacsun, the sweater is from H&M, tights are from Target, and the boots are from Bass. I should probably try to do OOTD posts more consistently, but I get lazy, so I don't actually know. Hmm.
Actually, now that I think about it, I really want to go on an adventure. Like, wearing boots, finding our way through the dark, marching through secret creeks and finding mysterious alleyways and such. I've also been thinking about Moonrise Kingdom a lot lately as well. It's settled. I'm going to go on an adventure.
OH MY GOD AND SPEAKING OF ADVENTURES I FOUND THIS REALLY AMAZING SONG AND I THINK THAT IT COULD BE MY FRIENDS AND MY TUNNEL SONG YOU KNOW?????
And with that, I hope that everyone finds their own tunnel song and gets to drive in the darkness through some kind of amazing tunnel or back road or bridge or wherever your tunnel is and you get to turn up your tunnel song at full blast and you and your friends all stick your heads out the windows and you howl like wolves and it is just so so amazing that nothing will ever feel as bad as it really is ever again.

Yay! Mary antoinette is really cool, after I watched the Kirsten dunst movie I just wanted massive hair and everything frilly and pastel:)
ReplyDeleteMovie trailers alway deceive. I feel your pain.
Carla
I just wish my life was a Sofia Coppola movie, it'd be so gorgeous. And it's nice to know that I'm not alone in my movie trailer trickery.
Deletelol!
ReplyDeletefirstly, I love Jen Lindley (the lady in Take This Waltz). That trailer made it look like a great film, so I'm going to go watch it right this instant. Hopefully I like it a little more than you do!
Secondly, tunnel songs. I tried to have 16 Years by Phantogram be my tunnel song, but it turns out you can't breathe when you are driving 60 miles per hour with your head out the sun roof.
This is a lovely song, though. I'm glad you found a tunnel song. Especially one that is so beautiful.
XOXO

I haven't watched Dawson's Creek, but Michelle Williams is pretty great. It's an okay movie, maybe I just didn't really relate? I dunno. That's a great song! And hahaha at least you tried. Thank you!
DeleteThat's a great song! If I had to choose a "Tunnel Song", I'd choose either "Let Your Heart Hold Fast" by Fort Atlantic or "All My Friends" by LCD Soundsystem.
ReplyDeleteGreat post, keep posting great stuff! :)
